FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1) WHAT HAPPENS ON THE FIRST VISIT?
After an initial interview, we will do some preliminary MAT work to observe how your body responds in preparation for your second MAT session.
2) WHAT DO I WEAR?
Wear comfortable workout-type clothing – pants and shirt – but please no denim or thick material.
3) HOW LONG DOES A SESSION LAST?
Sessions vary depending on a client’s needs. Allow 1 1/2 hours to complete the process; in some cases an additional 15-20 minutes may be necessary.
4) WHAT IS THE COST OF MY MAT VISIT?
The cost of your visit is calculated at an hourly rate of $175/hour (example: 1 1/2 hours x $175.00 = $262.50).
5) WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?
Since MAT is a “BIOMECHANICAL” process and NOT “MEDICAL”, it may not be covered by some insurance companies. THE ASPEN SKI COMPANY DOES REIMBURSE FOR MAT APPOINTMENTS! Several clients cover MAT through their Health Savings Account. No matter which payment option you choose the session must be paid for in full at the time of each visit. MC/Visa/Discover/AmEx, checks and cash are accepted.
6) HOW WILL I FEEL DURING OR AFTER A SESSION?
Many clients have mild to no discomfort. Some clients notice that improperly working muscles may be inflamed and therefore sensitive during palpation. However, the inflammation usually calms down or disappears as proper muscle function is restored. Each client reacts uniquely to MAT based on his/her individual life experiences and length of time the problem has existed. Many clients may experience positive changes during the initial sessions. In a few cases, a client may report feeling sore or tired, or feeling worse before better, and this usually improves as proper muscle function is recovered through the MAT process.
7) HOW MANY SESSIONS SHOULD I EXPECT TO SCHEDULE?
Every person has a unique physical history and this will determine the number of sessions to rectify the muscular dysfunction. As a minimum you should expect to commit to from 4-6 MAT sessions. Note: The “ideal” situation is at least a session every 7 days or sooner for the initial sessions, however you can go quickly or slowly through the MAT process depending on what is best for you.
8) HOW CAN I SUPPORT MY ACTIVE HEALTHY LIFESTYLE IN THE FUTURE WITH MAT?
As you return to your daily and weekly tasks and increased demands on your body, Patty Bennett, MAT Rx Full Body Specialist can support you in your physical activities and endeavors by providing monthly or quarterly MAT “tune-up” sessions and raising muscular thresholds (MAT Rx) for higher athletic performance levels in clients with athletic goals (amateur to professional).
9) WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you need to cancel your MAT scheduled appointment, please allow at least 24 hour notice in order to avoid being charged a cancellation fee of $200.00 and to allow other clients the opportunity for a session.
